If I want to start writing about all the places in the world where I had been I would write first about Guatemala, my country.
Guatemala is the most cosmopolitan country in Central America. We have Mexico in the north and west, Belize at the northeast, El Salvador at south and Honduras at east. Out territorial extension is 108,889 km² and we are about 14 million of guatemalans.
People usually call guatemalans: "CHAPINES". This word comes from the Arabic "chipin" that means alcornoque. At the beginning of our history, after the Spanish came and conquered our country, the Indians used shoes made by alcornoque that is a kind of tree. That's the origin of our nickname.
Guatemala offers a lot of beautiful places to visit. Even though I live in Guatemala, I couldn't visit all of this great places but some day, I will.
My favorites places to be in my country and the top 10 you must visit if you come to Guatemala are:
1. Antigua Guatemala, Sacatepéquez
2. Tikal, Petén
3. Amatique Bay, Izabal
4. Estanzuela, Zacapa
5. Xela, Quetzaltenango
6. Atitlán, Sololá
7. Esquipulas, Chiquimula
8. Chichicastenango, Quiché
9. Volcán Pacaya, Escuintla
10. Semuc Champey, Cobán
Welcome to Guatemala, land of eternal spring!
